What is the DV NY Metal Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece?
The DV NY for Alto Sax will appeal to the Straight Ahead player looking for the best playing and sounding mouthpiece that he or she can find. The mouthpiece is based on our popular DV model but has several modifications, the most significant being a deep chamber. All tests with players have been extremely positive and we've had great response from "Link" and "Meyer" players. And most importantly, the DV NY has become my main alto mouthpiece. The DV NY occupies a similar place as the ESP but we think that players who like a wider mouthpiece in the mouth, and a more spread sound will choose the DV NY. Players who like more of a Berg Larsen focused sound and a thinner profile piece may prefer the ESP.
Effortless Vintage Sound
Jody Espina has introduced the concept of Golden Section Proportions to the art of high end saxophone mouthpiece design. This perfect chamber/bore/facing combination will result in an extraordinary playing experience for you. The DV NY produces a darker, less bright tone than the contemporary sound of the DV. The deep baffle/chamber design of the DV NY produce a beautiful Classic Jazz Alto sound reminiscent of the masters of the 40's, 50's and 60's.
Three Goals in Creating the DV NY Saxophone Mouthpieces
1. To create the most efficient mouthpiece possible. That means that there is no stuffiness and little resistance.
2. To emulate the sound of the Classic 50's and 60's Alto Sax players, while giving the sound an extra fatness from the secondary window.
3. To produce the most beautiful tone on any JodyJazz mouthpiece so far.
