 Detailed Description
The Rico Select Jazz cut features a strong, well-defined heart and longer vamp, yielding unprecedented projection and a clear, fat tone, with unsurpassed flexibility and lightning-fast response. With a French file.

The file is the area behind the vamp where the bark is sanded off in a straight line. It provides freedom of response, especially in the low register, making soft attacks and subtones easier. The file also makes the tone slightly brighter.

High Quality, High Consistency
I have been playing the saxophone for 20 years, have been a freelancer for the past 10 years playing with many bands, and ran a high school instrumental music department for 7 years. I am a baritone specialist, and of course I also play soprano, alto, and tenor. These are my reeds of choice for alto, tenor, and baritone, and I recommend them in appropriate strengths to every saxophonist I meet, be they student or professional. The reeds allow for a robust sound with a great variety of timbre, and are highly responsive and articulate. I cannot recall having a bad reed in a box, and most of the reeds are great. These reeds have a good lifespan if properly cared for. A great Hemke reed may be better than one of these, but the consistency of the reeds throughout a box make them my first choice.
