Runyon's Metal Mouthpieces are plated with chromium which is the second hardest of all metallic elements. This chromium plating makes the mouthpieces smooth and durable, as well as less susceptible to scratching and disfigurement.
Spoilers are small metal reeds that can be placed in all Runyon saxophone mouthpieces. They increase the loudness of the instrument, yet maintain its overall tone, with the same amount of breath. A beginning student can play louder with confidence. The experienced professional can play with increased authority.
